K – 6 Grade
We are proud to announce that children K-6 will be partaking in the Catechesis of the Good Shepard program – a unique curriculum which places an emphasis on experiential learning. Children will get to see, touch, and interact with elements of Orthodoxy up close, and learn how to form a real relationship with Christianity. Not only will they hear about biblical stories – they’ll build reproductions of events and spend time contemplating the message. They won’t only hear and see the censer during liturgy, but they’ll have an opportunity to interact with it up close and learn about it’s symbolism.
This style of learning is well supported, and children love the opportunity to engage with elements of their faith on a level that makes it real to them. Many churches have had great success with the Catechesis of the Good Shepard, and we believe with the dedicated help of our Sunday school teachers and parents, it will be a success at St. Mary as well.
7-12 Grade
The teens will be led by Elijah & Andrea Vollendorf, a husband and wife who place an emphasis on building good relationships – with Christ, the Church, family, friends, and their community. The teens will focus on growing deeper in their faith through knowledge of the Bible, Church history, and theology, while also emphasizing the need to live the faith through prayer, forgiveness, charity, and service to others.
